Emergency First Aid At Work EFAW

The Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) course is designed for people who have a responsibility at work, or in voluntary and community activities, to provide first aid when dealing with emergency incidents.

The course is based on the HSE training standard for delivery of First Aid at Work courses for the purposes of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.

Aim of Course

The aim of the course is to provide learners with skills and knowledge to deal with a wide range of emergency first aid situations. Learners should also, through practical demonstrations show safe, effective and correct administration of first aid in emergency situations and understand the role of a first aider.

Course Content

  • The role of the First Aider including Law
  • Preventing cross-infection
  • Recording incidents
  • Unconscious patient
  • Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Choking
  • Wounds and bleeding, Eye Injury, Nosebleeds
  • Shock, Seizures
  • Minor Injuries, Burns, Allergic Reactions, Fractures

This is a 2 day Paediatric First Aid course which enables childcarers to deal with first aid emergencies affecting infants and children in their care.
